Overall Call:
Director James Gray second film is as strong as his first, Little Odessa. The Yards is a realistic look at one mans attempt to live an honest life when all those around him are involved in organized crime. The story has a small film feel with a big time cast. It didn't make much at the box office but will hopefully gather a following on video. The cast delivers some strong performances. James Caan and Ellen Burstyn were both very good. All in all it's a good story about one mans struggle and how it effects the family that surrounds him.

Reasons For Recommendation:
+ Good story
+ Very strong cast
