Overall Call:
I suspect most know of this classic children's tale, if unfamiliar run out and see it. This film is being re-realesed for its 30th anniversary on DVD, which has to be an improvement with all the bonus stuff included on the newer version. Gene Wilder turns in a most impressive subtle wiseass portrayal that rivals all others. The film is magnificent to look at with all of its splendid vivid colors and the songs are all fun and goofy. It is a great film for kids. The lessons are doled out without being preachy a la Disney. I guess the only warning I'll give parents is to preview it first, to make sure you like it. Once your kids see it, it will be on an endless loop for an eternity.
Reasons For Recommendation:
+ Classic kids tale
+ Gene Wilder's performance
