Overall Call:
Welcome to the Dollhouse is Director Todd Solondz successful attempt at delivering an unflinchingly upsetting look at high school. The story is told with style and Solondz quickly lets you know this is not anywhere close to a happy ending Hollywood fluff piece. Heather Matarazzo is outstanding as the films lead and is going to have a nice career ahead of her. This film is not for the faint at heart. If you are looking for something a bit left of center check out Welcome to the Dollhouse - it's an excellent piece of independent cinema.

Reasons For Recommendation:
+ Harsh realistic take on unfortunate adolescents
+ Heather Matarazzo and Brendan Sexton are excellent
