Overall Call:
A Coen brothers classic. This highly stylized, casually paced drama is chalked full of everything you want (or at least I do) in a movie. Great Characters as always with the Coen Brothers. An intricate plot full of unexpected shifts and beautiful cinematography. Not to mention top rate acting. Finally, even in this serious minded story there are numerous laugh out loud moments. What more do you want? This one might lose some with its slow pacing and semi-involved plot structure. I've enjoyed this film a couple of times and consistent with Coen's other pictures, I always walk away with something new each time. I must also make mention of John Turturro's performance, he has a couple of remarkable scenes. In brief form that covers the bases of a film. I'm left with little else to say. If what is described seems appealing then turn off your computer, get off your butt and go rent Miller's Crossing.
