Overall Call:
David Mamet returns with one of his more signature scripts in sometime. The dialogue is the strong point in the film, of course providing you like the repetitive staccato to Mamet exchanges. The film is fun to play along with. Soon though you realize that the excessive twists become something to view and not to predict. As caper films go this one kept me involved the whole time and I really enjoyed the characters. Sam Rockwell as Jimmy Silk had me hating him (in a good way) from first sight. Gene Hackman as Joe Moore was also a joy to watch as well. Where the recent film The Score was barebones simplistic, The Heist does more then pick up the slack. Even though this one becomes a little hyper in the plot, I did enjoy and certainly recommend The Heist.
Reasons For Recommendation:
+ Wonderful script
+ Great characters
