Overall Call:
This coming of age tale set in the early 80's is an excellent example of how life really is in high school. This ain't She's All That or any other top 40, pop unrealistic high school flick. It is an oddball look at what happens to an angst ridden teen whose Mom moves to England and Dad's awaiting the go ahead for a sex change. Sebastian isn't always likable but depending on where you stand he does mature somewhat. The story takes a nice unassuming look at the characters relationships. The whole sex change thing is dealt with well too. It's just like any other situation, not a big hoopla is made of it - it's just life. The performances were all pretty good and the direction was sound. There are some nice doses of comedy thrown in there for you. There's a karate demonstration that's worth the price of admission. All in all it's a quaint little film that is nice one to rent on Saturday afternoon.

Reasons For Recommendation:
+ Quirky coming off age tale
+ Nice realistic look at high school
