Overall Call:
Shallow Hal is nice fun. Going into it with heavy Farrelly Brothers (Something About Mary, Kingpin, Dumb and Dumber) expectations might let you down though. It's a funny premise about a guy who is transformed to only see the inner beauty in people by the one and only Tony Robbins. By the way Robbins is brilliantly utilized in the film. Jack Black is also great as Hal who has quickly become a favorite of mine. The humor is broad and occasionally reminds you of who is at the helm of the film. The sick and twisted aspects are just a bit thinner then usual. With this understanding I think most should get a mild kick out of the movie. This one will also make for a great rental.
Reasons For Recommendation:
+ Fun movie with a dash of sick and twisted
+ Jack Black and Tony Robbins together in a good film.
