Overall Call:
Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson have penned another rich, funny and odd story. Consistent with their previous attempts (Bottle Rocket and Rushmore) there are so many jokes one gets the feeling early on that another viewing will be in order. The ensemble cast was great and all seemed to have a blast with their roles. When actors are able to play characters like the ones in this film they become like kids in a candy store. The Royal Tenenbaums is the next logical step for Wes Anderson's resume; bigger stars and bigger scenes because bigger money can now be sunk into the films. As his career progresses I hope he never loses that small movie dark edge that his stories always seem to have. I recommend this one and eagerly look forward to his next collaboration with the Wilson brothers.
Reasons For Recommendation:
+ Well-written characters coupled with great performances
+ Dark odd humor
