Overall Call:
The third film delivered by Sean Penn is right in step with his previous efforts (The Indian Runner and The Crossing Guard) and like Lucky Charms is magically delicious. The movie isn't for everyone. It's not going to pick up your spirits after a hard week at the office. It might be a bit of a downer, unless you enjoy actors at their peek performance (everyone in the whole film is). Sean Penn isn't interested in delivering a story neatly wrapped in an air tight easily decipherable package. The Pledge is no exception. It might be slow at times, if you aren't hanging on the actors every twitch. If in the mood for a heavy film and even heavier performances watch and enjoy; I sure as hell did.
Reasons For Recommendation:
+ Nickolson shines brighter then ever in recent past
+ Benicio Del Torro and Micky Roruke give brilliant one scene cameos
+ A story that allows for your own interpretation
