Overall Call:
After successfully delivering two socially conscious films last year (Traffic and Erin Brockovich), Steven Soderbergh has taken time off with the fun caper film Ocean's Eleven. The movie has enough star power to light up the Las Vegas sky. It is well executed and is a great example of what a light Hollywood popcorn movie should be. All the stars do the most with their screen time. The story divulges just enough to allow you to feel in on the heist while simultaneously distant enough to enjoy plot revelations throughout. Consistent with his other films Soderbergh's cinematography is a joy to watch containing just enough style without being too flashy. A repeating criticism I've heard is the lack of depth of character. This is a light flick with way to many cast members to allow depth in the two hours allotted for the film. Who wants that in this film anyway, it begs for light-hearted fun and that's delivered in spades. Ocean's Eleven is a great holiday diversion film, go and enjoy.
Reasons For Recommendation:
+ Cast is a hoot
+ Well executed fun film
