Overall Call:
Where to begin... how about, superb. Audiences will be divided it's a love it or loath it film. One thing is undeniable; it is a visual extravaganza of unparalleled proportions. It's pure pop. A suggestion to take a Dramamine before viewing it might be helpful. It is fast, furious and almost out of control. Think of the quickest in-your-face movie trailer you've ever seen, that also lasts 126 minutes. It barely comes up to breathe, so when it does be sure to reestablish your equilibrium. The use of old cliché chez pop love song staples is done with clever wit, without seeming like they were just totally ripped off. Kidman and McGregor were quintessential Hollywood captivating stars. The rest of the cast is excellent as well. The film is a true experience. If you are going to see it, in addition to the Dramamine see it in a fully equipped theatre with a very large screen and state of the art sound system - it will blow you away and leave you dizzy. If all this over the top pop isn't your cupo' tea, you might want to pass. If you're even slightly Curious George check it out you won't soon forget it.
A final footnote: Generally speaking I hate musicals. Enough said I think my point has been made.
